The index is a cash-settled futures contract on the monthly average of Platts’ premium for P1020A aluminium (delivered duty paid, US Midwest) in USD/tonne. Lot size 25 tonnes, trading on LMEselect or by phone, with settlement via VWAP during the 16:55–17:00 London ring or waterfall, published by LME the next day after month-end. It is key for hedging in the North American aluminium market.
