ETFs: “Europe in Demand, Bitcoin Under Pressure”

European index funds continue to attract buy orders, while higher yields are making corporate bonds more attractive. Following the Binance hack, selling is dominating crypto trading. Demand for gold and silver, on the other hand, is rising.November 3, 2026. FRANKFURT (Deutsche Börse). ETF trading has slowed somewhat in the last week of October. Frank Mohr of Société Générale reports lower trading volumes than in the previous week. Overall, demand continues to outpace supply.Global index funds, in particular, are seeing a significant buying surplus. Orders are being placed for the Vanguard FTSE All-World ( ) and the iShares Core MSCI World ( ). In the U.S., the picture is more balanced. The iShares Core S&P 500 ( ) and the iShares Nasdaq 100 ( ) are being actively traded in both directions.European indices remain in demandDemand for European stocks is more pronounced. Trading volumes in the corresponding index funds remain at relatively high levels. Mohr cites, among others, the STOXX Europe 600 products from Amundi ( ) and iShares ( ), as well as the iShares Core EURO STOXX 50 ( ). The picture is different for German stocks: Ivo Orlemann of ICF Bank sees almost exclusively selling in the Deka DAX ( ).According to Mohr, the technology sector leads among sector ETFs, accounting for more than 28 percent of trading volume this time around. However, no clear trading trend is apparent. Mohr reports purchases of the iShares S&P 500 Information Technology ( ) and sales of the iShares Digital Security ( ). The Xtrackers Artificial Intelligence & Big Data ( ) is seeing very brisk trading on both sides.Michael Norizin of Lang & Schwarz calls the AI sell-off and the sharp fluctuations in tech stocks “the big story of the week.” The trader notes high trading volumes in the VanEck Semiconductor ( ) and the twice-leveraged Amundi Nasdaq-100 Daily Leveraged ( ).Higher Yields Attract Investors to Corporate BondsIn the bond market, corporate bonds are coming more into focus. The rise in yields over the past few weeks has weighed on prices but has also raised current yield levels. This is now driving new demand. Mohr reports significant purchases of the iShares EUR High Yield Corp Bond ( ). Also in demand are the iShares Core EUR Corp Bond ( ) and the iShares EUR Corp Bond 1-5yr ( ). On balance, these three index funds have yielded virtually no returns for investors since the beginning of the year, but are now attracting interest again due to the higher yield levels. Government bonds, on the other hand, are less in demand; the iShares Germany Govt Bond ( ) is being sold off for the most part.Bitcoin Being Sold, Precious Metals in DemandOrlemann is seeing significant selling pressure in crypto trading. Following the recent hacker attack on the Binance crypto platform, the market came under pressure. The WisdomTree Physical Bitcoin ( ) and the 21Shares Bitcoin Core ( ) are being sold almost exclusively. The trend is reversed in the precious metals market. Following the recent price declines, investors are buying again. Orlemann observes almost exclusively purchases of the WisdomTree Physical Silver ( ), the Invesco Physical Gold EUR Hedged ( ), and the WisdomTree Physical Swiss Gold ( ). Norizin also reports strong sales, citing Xetra-Gold ( ) and the triple-leveraged WisdomTree Silver 3x Daily Leveraged ( ). ◄Previous►Next By Thomas Koch, November 3, 2026, © Deutsche Börse AG About the Author Thomas Koch is a CEFA investment analyst, an investment specialist in structured products, and a certified certificate advisor.
