ETFs: “After the tech rally, investors are cashing out”

Global equity funds remain in demand. In addition to trading established global ETFs, Mohr reports many smaller orders for the Vanguard FTSE Global All-Cap ( ). “There is strong demand for this product in the retail market.” This relatively new ETF tracks not only large and mid-cap companies from developed and emerging markets but also small-cap stocks, giving it an even broader coverage than traditional global indices such as the FTSE All-World. Frank MohrThe picture for U.S. stocks is mixed. Heinrich notes particularly high demand for the Amundi S&P 500 Climate Paris Aligned ( ), while Mohr observes profit-taking in the Xtrackers S&P 500 Swap ( ). European stocks are also being traded selectively. The Xtrackers MSCI Europe Small Cap ( ) is being bought, while the Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600 ( ) is being sold. In Germany, trading volume is low, and selling slightly outweighs buying.Higher returns are attracting buyersThis time around, trading in bond ETFs deserves more attention. Capital market yields have risen sharply in recent weeks, putting particular pressure on long-term maturities. As a result, the Amundi Euro Government Bond 15+Y ( ) has lost about 10 percent of its value within six weeks. Meanwhile, Mohr is seeing increasing buying activity in this sector. Fifteen-year government bonds currently yield around 3.7 percent in Germany and about 5.1 percent in France, while Hungary’s yield is as high as 5.8 percent. The rise in yields is thus making long-term bonds more attractive again. However, price volatility is generally greater than for short-term bonds.Gold in Demand, Oil Shorts BoughtIn commodities trading, oil and gold are driving market activity. Prices for Brent and WTI have recently risen again amid the geopolitical situation. In this environment, ICF Bank’s clients are increasingly betting on falling prices. Ivo Orlemann reports strong buying of the triple-leveraged WisdomTree Brent Crude Oil 3x Daily Short ( ). Gold, on the other hand, remains in demand. Investors are buying the Invesco Physical Gold EUR Hedged ( ) and the Invesco Physical Gold ( ). In the VanEck Gold Miners ( ), however, Orlemann is seeing almost exclusively sales. ◄Previous►NextBy Thomas Koch, October 6, 2026, © Deutsche Börse AG About the Author Thomas Koch is a CEFA investment analyst, investment specialist for structured products, and certified certificate advisor.
