The index reflects the current business climate, based on the balance of answers received during the survey of German entrepreneurs. The survey involves about 9,000 firms presented in the production, services sector, construction, wholesale and retail. In connection with the change in the methodology in April 2018 when the service sector was added to the index, the base year has become 2015. The index is seasonally adjusted.
