The Feeder Cattle index represents a CFD on young feeder steers, tracking financially settled futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and is used for hedging in the meat industry of the United States, where it serves as a price benchmark for the feeder cattle market. In 2026-02, prices ranged from 355.43 cents/lb to 371.03 cents/lb with an average level of 366.42 cents/lb. The index price is based on the contract for difference of feeder cattle, tracking financially settled feeder cattle (or steers) futures traded on the CME; young cattle reached a weight of 700 to 899 pounds.
