28 day Cetes is the rate that reflects the yield of zero coupon bills denominated in pesos issued by Banco de Mexico with a maturity of 28 days. Cetes (treasury bills) have been being issued at discount through a weekly auction since 1978 and remains an important monetary policy instrument for the government. With Cetes, the monetary authorities are able to affect the money supply through open market operations, finance the budget deficit and develop the fixed income market. Cetes are not necessarily auctioned daily so index update frequency can change.
